Limestone Rockets 55, Normal West Wildcats 59
Limestone's Stewart opened the game with a 2 pointer 49 seconds into the game. Bell struck first for the Wildcats with a 3 point at 6:54 mark, 3-2. The Rockets ran off the next 4 points to make the score 6-3 at the 5:07 mark. After making his presence known under the basket, the Wildcats' Hallstein capped off a 8-0 run with a 3 pointer at the 3:44 mark, 11-6. The Rockets picked up the next five points which included a Stewart 3 pointer, 11-11 at the 2:43 mark. Baskets were exchanged ending with a Hallstein 3 pointer to close the 1st quarter, 18-17 Wildcats.
Stewart zeroed in a 3 pointer to start the 2nd quarter and retake the lead, 20-18 Rockets. Each team saw the foul line once and exchanged baskets until the 3:11 mark when the Wildcats' Walls rattled in a 3 pointer to tie the game 25-25. Limestone dropped a basket and made one of two shots from the foul line to take the lead into the half, 28-25.
The first minute saw no change to the score board. Bell hit a layup at the 6:57 mark to get within one point. It took a little over 30 seconds for Hallstein to drop in a put back to take the lead 29-28. Normal West added to its lead with a 3 pointer by Hallstein and a layup by Stewart, 34-28 at the 4:48 mark. The next three minutes, the Wildcats outscored the Rockets 9-5, 43-34 at the 1:14 mark, where the Rockets called a timeout. Bell added two more to Normal West's lead to end the 3rd quarter, 45-34.
Just 20 seconds into the 4th quarter, Stewart's 3 pointer and Garske's layup pulled the Rockets within 6 points, 45-39. Durham of Normal West, scored first for the Wildcats in 4th, 47-39 at the 7:10 mark. Rockets got the free throw and a 3 pointer from Christiansen to make it 47-43, where a timeout was called. The Rockets returned from the timeout with a 3 pointer by Garske, which was followed by a field goal by Stewart to take the lead 48-47, Rockets. The Wildcats called a timeout at the 5:21 mark. The Rockets' Mehn added 2 more to the lead, 50-47 at the 5:10 mark. A timely 3 pointer by Hallstein tied the game 50-50 at the 4:32 mark.
Christiansen answered with a 3 pointer of his own to give the Rockets the lead again 53-50, at the 3:55 mark. The next two saw Hallstein make two foul shots and layup to make the score 54-53 Wildcats. Limestone called back to back timeouts, at the 1:38 mark. The Wildcats' Stewart's 2 points made the score 56-53 at the 1:01 mark. Stewart made two free throws to pull within 1, 56-55 Wildcats with 32 seconds left in the game. The Wildcats' Bell was sent to the line twice in the last 22 seconds of the game, where he converted 3 of 4. The game ended 59-55 Normal West.
