Hersey Huskies 62, Thornridge Falcons 54
The third place consolation game pitted the Thornridge Falcons from the Southeast Chicago suburbs and the Arlington Heights Hersey Huskies from the Northwest Chicago suburbs.
Hersey jumped out to a 19-15 first quarter lead, led by Justin Jobski and Trevor Haas' 6 points apiece. Hersey picked apart the Thornridge defense for 10 points on uncontested layups. Thornridge countered with balanced scoring led by Kendall Lett's two three pointers for 6 points.
Lett's third three pointer of the game trimmed the Hersey lead to 23-20 at the 5:36 mark of the 2nd quarter. Hersey then scored the next 9 points to take a 32-20 lead on a driving layup by Connor Miklasz.'Halftime score was 40-32 in favor of Hersey. Free throws were the difference in the first half, as Hersey went 13 for 18, while Thornridge hit only 1 of 3.
Thornridge used a 14-3 run to grab a 46-43 lead at the 3:05 mark of the 3rd quarter, led by Tim Hardy's 7 3rd quarter points. Hersey scored the last 5 points of the quarter to take a 48-46 lead into the 4th quarter.
Jerron Charles tied the game at 50-50 on an inside move at the 4:58 mark of the 4th quarter. Connor Miklasz nailed a three pointer to give Hersey a 53-52 lead. Miklasz hit another three to give Hersey a 6 point lead with less than two minutes left. The Huskies held on for a 62-54 win. Steven Dandridge led Thornridge with 13 points. Connor Miklasz of Hersey led all scorers in the game with 15 points.
