Pekin Dragons 48, Plainfield East Bengals 46

The Bengals' Bennett opened the game with a field goal 24 seconds into the game. Pekin's Ramsey answered with a 3 pointer to take the lead 3-2 at the 6:28 mark. Plainfield went to the line and sank one of two free throws, while the Dragons' Hoeniges countered with a 3 pointer, 6-3 at the 5:54 mark. Hoeniges was sent to line for Pekin, where he converted 2 of 3 free throws, 9-3 at the 3:02 mark. The Dragons extended their lead with a put back by Lohmann, 10-6 at the 2:40 mark. Woodson's 3 pointer made the score 10-6 at the 2:40 mark. Hoeniges converted two free throws to take the score to 12-6, which he followed up with a field goal, 14-6 Pekin at the 1:10 mark. Brown cut to baseline for two points to draw the Bengals within six, 14-8 where the quarter ended.

Barnes opened the 2nd quarter with a layup, making the score 16-8 Dragons. The Bengals didn't find pay dirt until Goffinet dropped a 3 pointer at the 5:35 mark, 18-14. Pekin picked up a field goal by King at the 5:23 mark, 20-14. After a scoreless 1:30 Pekin's Hoeniges made two free throws, 22-14 Pekin. In the last 3:54 Plainfield saw a trip to the free throw line to no avail and a layup, while Pekin's trip to the line was unproductive. With two seconds left on the clock the Bengals' Staughter hit a 2 pointer from the perimeter to end the half 22-18, Pekin.

Just like at the beginning of the game, Bengals' Bennett opened the second half with 2 points at the 6:35 mark. Both team exchanged baskets to make the score 24-22 at the 6:46 mark. The Dragons' Barnes racked up the next two baskets, 28-22 at the 6:11 mark. The score board stayed unchanged for the next 2:16 until Pekin's Lohmann put a layup in at the 3:55 mark, 30-22. Scotti and McLouth baskets increased the lead to 32-22. Plainfield called a timeout at the 2:48 mark. Pekin's 14-0 run ended with a basket by Walters, 36-26. Walter's added another basket at the 1:01 mark to make the score 36-28, Dragons. Neither team was able to convert in the last minute of the 3rd quarter where it ended 36-28.

Bengals' Goffinet sank a 3 pointer to start the 4th quarter and continue a 7-0 run, 36-31. Barnes made one of two free throws to end the Bengals run, 37-31 at the 6:57 mark. After a Bengals basket the Dragons scored the next two, 41-35 at the 5:45 mark. By the 4:24 mark, baskets were exchanged, 45-37. The Bengals' Straughter hit a 3 pointer to draw within 5, 45-40. Pekin called a timeout with 3:23 remaining in the game. Returning from the timeout, Plainfield's Goffinet rattled home a 3 pointer to get within 2 points, 45-43. At the 1:50 mark, Bennett was fouled under the net and went to the line, which he made one of two free throws, 45-44. After Pekin turned the ball over they called a timeout at the 1:45 mark. Bengals' Bennett powered his way into a layup to give the Bengals' their first lead of the game since the first basket of the game, 46-45. Pekin's Lohmann was sent to the line where he made one of two at the :55 mark, 46-46. Bengals turned the ball over and Dragons' started running the clock down for the last shot. King was sent to foul line and sank both free throws, 48-46 at the :12 mark. Plainfield moved the ball down the court and got caught on the base line. Bengals called a timeout with :02 left. Robinson released from beyond the 3 point line, where it rattled off. Game over! 48-46 Pekin
